How this estimate works
Entropy is estimated from the visible character classes in the generated passphrase using a standard pool-size model: lowercase (26), upper+lower (52), letters+numbers (62), and letters+numbers+symbols (95).
Crack time comes from the Hive Systems 2025 table, using visible length and character classes. The final rating takes the more conservative of the entropy estimate and Hive crack-time guidance.
As a rule of thumb, short all-lowercase passwords should stay in the weak range even if they reach a few years on the table.
